Serena found her Feet!

Serena has been going crazy lately trying to grab things, and a few days ago she discovered she can grab her toes!
There's some cute video of both girls I've been trying to post for a couple of weeks now, but I think there's something wrong with blogger. I'll keep trying, and in the meantime I'll just post pictures. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Cosmo and Friends

We just got finished watching a couple of friends' dogs, Casey (the black one) and Yasu. We've watched both of them before, but not all together! Cosmo had a lot of fun just hanging out with his friends. And Shilah had a blast feeding them and walking them.
Serena has just figured out how to grab and hold onto things (including my hair), so we've entered a whole other phase! It's really neat to see her study various objects that end up in her hands. Shilah has been good at giving Serena age-appropriate toys to play with (we keep Serena's toys in a separate container). There are times when Shilah is a little rough with her (not intentionally), but the best is when Serena smiles at Shilah and is fascinated by what she's doing!

Super Daddy

Shanti took a few days off from work for the Thanksgiving holiday. We actually spent most of it doing spring cleaning. (even though it's almost winter-- better late than never!) Shanti vacuumed & steam cleaned all of our carpets, while I did some other chores. We still have more to do, but the big part is behind us!
And of course Shanti had plenty of time to spend with his daughters. I couldn't ask for a better daddy for my two little girls...

Happy Baby!

Serena is such a happy baby! She always has a smile for anyone who smiles back at her. Both girls have been stuffed up for the last week or so, so we're waiting on Serena's 4 month doctor check-up since she needs to be completely well for it.

Babies & Potties

Shilah has been very into playing with her dolls... here she is feeding one. She loves to dress them in Serena's diapers and clothes, which are usually too big! Shilah also has been very excited about going on the toilet-- we haven't pushed the potty training thing yet, and she seems to just be doing it on her own! She likes going around the house without a diaper, and then she likes to go all by herself on the toilet. Of course she wears a diaper when she naps and at night, and also when we go out of the house. No accidents yet! We'll keep our fingers crossed...

Birthday Swim Party!

Sunday we went to Shilah's friend Maggie's (and Torin's) birthday party. It was at a rec center, so the kids got to swim after cake & presents. It was Serena's first time going swimming, and she didn't fuss a bit! And Shilah had a blast!

Housewarming Party

On Saturday we went to a housewarming party at Tiffany & Tommy's new house in Denver (Tiffany is Shanti's cousin). It was a lot of fun! As you can see, Shilah was interested in working the keg and watching their pet boa. Tiffany & Tommy have a beautiful home! It's hard to believe that a few months ago we were at their wedding in Breckenridge-- 10 days later, Serena was born!

Daddy's Back in Town!

Shanti was out of town on business in Kansas earlier this week for a few days. He went to Greensburg, a town that was hit by a tornado last May.
He traveled as an energy efficiency consultant on the rebuilding of Greensburg (95% of the town was destroyed by the tornado). The goal is to make the town as "green" as possible by rebuilding energy efficient buildings. Crew members from a new "green" Discovery channel have been in Greensburg filming a reality show that focuses on the rebuilding of the town. While Shanti was there they filmed his presentation to a business group on the benefits of energy efficiency in retail buildings; they also filmed discussions and meetings of which Shanti was part. The show will air in about 13 months, and there's a very good chance Shanti will show up in some episodes! VERY exciting! I'm so proud of Shanti and the important work he is doing! We will keep you posted...

Look at the Camera!

Serena continues to be a mellow baby, which is great since Shilah has been a challenge lately. We just have to choose our battles, and understand that Shilah is at that age where she's asserting her independence and trying to control her world. Below is a pic of Shilah trying to get Serena to look at the camera. "Smile!"

Daddy time

Here's Serena giggling for Shanti!

And here's a cute little deer with big antlers in the backyard... Shilah likes to shout "hi" to them :)
