Hit the Deck

On Sunday we went over to Gabe & Andrea's so Shanti could help out tearing their deck down to make room for a new one. Shilah and Serena had fun playing with Cousin Emory at the local park and in the backyard...

Here's a video of Shilah and Serena playing peek-a-boo together underneath my legs. It's so neat to see them interact on this level and entertain one another!

Happy Passover!

Today marked the end of Passover. Yesterday we had Gabe, Andrea & Emory along with Tiffany & Tommy over for dinner to celebrate. Shanti's mom's side of the family is Jewish, and this is our first year hosting a Passover meal. There was matzo ball soup, kugel, blintzes, and lots of other good food! Shanti's cousin Tiffany grew up learning all the Passover traditions, so she brought passages to read and songs to sing. Fun!

Here are Shilah & Serena sharing a sippy cup together. It's cute until Shilah tries to shove it down Serena's throat :)

Hanging Out in the Mountains

On Sunday my brother Keith and his girlfriend Lauren came up to our house to hang out. It was a beautiful spring day, so we played horseshoes outside and went for a walk after dinner. Shilah had a great time being goofy and making Uncle Keith laugh!

3 Years Old

Shilah had her 3-year check-up a week and a half ago, and the doctor says she's doing very well physically, socially, and intellectually! She weighs a whopping 29 pounds :)
Her birthday was really more like Hannukah-- we spread out her presents over a few days so she wasn't too overwhelmed. Our big present to her was a wooden dollhouse that came with all the furniture and dolls. Here is Shilah eating a cupcake on her actual birthday...

Spring Fever!

Serena in sunglasses and Shilah in a bathing suit... is that spring fever or what?!?

In the last week and a half we have gotten a foot of snow on two different occasions. Spring storms are very common in Colorado, but the next day is usually sunny and melts most of the snow. Notice Shilah in a bathing suit with a foot of snow outside. She goes through at least 5 outfits a day, and her favorite one is this darn fishie bathing suit.
This weekend the weather is supposed to get into the 60's, so hopefully this is the end of the snow!

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa

My parents left yesterday, and we all had such a good time! Shilah had fun doing puzzles with grandpa and swinging with grandma, among other things. Serena just enjoyed hanging out and being held.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Shilah!

Shilah turned 3 years old today! We had a big party with some family and Shilah's friends on Saturday. It was a little crazy and crowded, but everyone seemed to have a good time!

For party favors I made CD's of the kids music we sang and danced to, along with other favorite songs of Shilah's. Each CD was tied to a balloon for families to take home.

We provided lunch for everyone; I made soup and bread for the adults and mac & cheese for the kids. For Shilah's birthday cake I made a tofu-carrot cake with cream cheese-honey frosting. She has a train alphabet puzzle that she loves, so I made a cupcake for each letter of the alphabet and each cupcake was a car of the train (I used cereal for wheels). I lined the puzzle up along the cupcakes for an added touch. The kids sang the ABC song and then Happy Birthday to Shilah!

Shilah also had fun playing hide-and-seek with her friends! Here she is counting...

Uncle Gabe and Aunt Andrea were so helpful setting up before the party and cleaning up after! Shanti and my parents also did an awesome job pitching in to make the party a success!

Family Time

Every evening after dinner we usually all hang out in the livingroom and either wrestle, dance, or watch a nature show. (boy, activities sure do change when you have kids!) Here's Shilah enjoying a bedtime snack with daddy & Cosmo...

Shilah's latin walk

Here's Shilah doing some more Jazzercise moves. She is now using little one pound weights to enhance her routines!

Ridiculous Headlines

Since we don't get any of the 24-hour news channels, Shanti and I keep up with the headlines by looking at news articles online, particulary CNN. There is a listing of headlines titled "Latest News," but there is usually at least one headline that makes you think, "How is this news?" So I'm going to try to post when I come across a ridiculous headline, since it always gives me a little laugh :)

Bon Jovi!

I went to see Bon Jovi in Denver last night with a friend, and they were AWESOME!
Here are some pictures from a few nights ago of Shilah having fun jumping through the air... I can only imagine what went on when I was gone :)
